KIERON SEAMONS
Kieron began drawing at the age of five, he has always been in a different world to everyone else, and from an early age he gained a love for hand drawn inky madness. His drive and creativity were soon noticed and he published his first illustrations while still a teenager – soon after he was discovered by Walt Disney Studio and became one of their youngest artists.
Since then he has become an established Animation Director, Animator, Creator, Illustrator and Author of around 400 stories for TV and children's books. With a successful career spanning 30 years in the UK, Germany, Korea and China, he has produced many world-famous, award-winning cartoons. Shows like Lilo and Stitch, Horrid Henry, Paddington, Dennis and Gnasher (Dennis the Menace), The Cramp Twins, Moomins, Caillou, Treasure, Noah's Island, Sushi Pack, Oscars Orchestra, Princess Lillifee, Wild Soccer Bunch, Likeaballs, The Little Ghosts, Pongwiffy, Animal Stories, 5,000 Tales and feature animated movies like Roger Rabbit, We're Back, An American Tail 2, Sokator442, Moomins on the Riveria and BAFTA-winning A Child's Christmas in Wales.
In 2005, Kieron set up Sandman Animation Studio and housed a staff of around 200. Producing hand-drawn, Flash and 3D animation for companies like Walt Disney Animation Studios. During this time He designed, wrote and produced many homegrown projects like Mission-E, Odd Bod, King Ra Ra, Flug and Little China. Each one went on to win awards.
After a career spanning over 30 years Kieron’s life changed dramatically when he became seriously ill. The doctors told him he was rhesus negative, a rare type of blood known fondly as Panda Blood. A life changing operation, during which he died briefly, brought new dimensions to his work and his life. He returned to his roots as an artist, creating hand-drawn books and exploring art again with a new vision.
Only an artist who has seen the other side, could produce some of the work that stares out at you from his oil paintings. His books range from a rare purple panda inspired by his blood type, to the coolest Kats on the planet, and in production a worrier that we can all identify with.
He lives in rural Sussex where the locals know his Top Hats and black ink stained hands. He creates from the heart, from the darkness and the light, beautiful characters, stunning books and engaging stories. Kieron is living his second life now, where every creation is painstakingly hand drawn, where every piece of work has a depth and story to it – and where he continues to live the artist’s life he chose when he was five years old
